First, I taught in Higher Education
Then, I went Back To School
My favorite part of the week was when I was designing courses and syllabi, learning a new piece of educational technology, and figuring out ploys to engage my students. My growing interest in instructional design became even clearer to me as I started teaching online, which made me rethink what it meant to teach and how design could bring out new learning experiences for my students.
Through this new awareness of what I enjoyed most about teaching, in 2013 I started to pursue a PhD in Education Studies with a focus on Instructional Technology. After becoming a doctoral candidate in 2015, I started working in instructional design. |

My experience teaching a wide variety of topics (Literature, Film, Education, and Writing) and my experience teaching with a variety of learners (Undergraduates, Majors, Adult Learners, University students, Community College students) over a variety of delivery systems (Face-to-Face, Hybrid, and Online) would be a great asset in consulting on e-Learning, instructional materials, teaching how to use instructional tools, and delivering continuing education workshops. Now, I am AN Instructional Designer
I have now been working as an instructional designer since 2015 for SYKES Digital Learning.
In that role, I have helped convert the training of Fortune 100 companies into a flipped model that balances task-based eLearning with learner-led activities. |
And, That is my story to date.
